All phone orders need to be accompanied by a hard copy of your order. All must include the following information:
UK AND EUROPEAN TERMS
There is a £50 / €75 minimum order on all sales. Open accounts can be extended to most recognized educational institutions, hospitals and government agencies with an established trading history, with net amount due 30 days from the date of invoice.
US & WORLDWIDE TERMS
There is a $50 minimum order. Payment must be made in advance by: draft drawn on a major US bank; wire transfer to our account; charge with VISA, MasterCard.
Quotations are supplied as requested. Written quotations will include the price of goods, plus estimated shipping and handling if requested. Quotations are valid for 90 days; following that time, prices are subject to change. In such a case, please ask us to re-quote your order.
If ordering instrumentation for use outside the USA, please specify the country of ultimate destination, as well as the power requirements (110V/60Hz or 220V/50Hz). Model numbers for 220V/50Hz will have a "*C" suffix.
EXCHANGES AND REFUNDS
Instruments not required may be returned for credit only if we have been consulted and have issued prior authorization and a returns document. The instrument must be packed well, preferably in it’s original packaging, insured for the full value and returned along with a cover letter explaining the reason for return. A re-stocking fee of up to 20% may apply. Collect shipments will not be accepted. Unit must be returned in saleable condition, and credit is subject to inspection of the instrument.
Instrumentation may not be returned without first completing a Return Goods Authorisation number (RGA) Form. When returning instrumentation for service, please contact Lafayette Instrument Europe stating the model number, serial number, reason for return and the RGD for will be sent by e-mail. Shipments cannot be received at the PO Box address. The items should be packed well, preferably in it’s original packaging, insured for full value, and returned to the address above, along with a cover letter explaining the malfunction. Please also state the name of the Lafayette Instrument representative authorizing the return. An estimate of repair or service cost will be given prior to completion. We must receive a hard copy of your purchase order by mail or fax, or repair work cannot commence.
EQUIPMENT DAMAGED IN TRANSIT
Customers must inspect shipments immediately upon arrival. Damaged equipment must not be returned without firstly reporting the problem to Lafayette Instrument carrying out a thorough inspection with photographs taken with a digital camera and discussing actions then are required. If a shipment arrives damaged, note damage on delivery bill and have the driver sign it to acknowledge the damage. Contact the delivery service, and they will file an insurance claim. When damage is not detected at the time of delivery, contact the carrier within 24 hours and request an inspection within 5 working days of the original delivery. Please call the Lafayette Instrument Customer Service Department for a return authorization for repair or replacement of the damaged merchandise.
Upon receipt of the equipment the user must firstly inspect for damage in transit and then register their warranty by reporting to Lafayette Instrument, within 5 working days, that the equipment is functioning correctly. Lafayette Instrument guarantees its instrumentation against all defects in materials and workmanship to the original purchaser for a period of 12 months from the date of shipment, unless otherwise stated. During this period, Lafayette Instrument will repair or replace, at its option, any instrumentation found to be defective in materials or workmanship. If a problem arises, please contact our office for prior authorization before returning the item. This warranty does not extend to damaged instrumentation resulting from alteration, misuse, negligence or abuse, normal wear or accident. In no event shall Lafayette Instrument be liable for incidental or consequential damages. There are no implied warranties or merchantability of fitness for a particular use, or of any other nature. Warranty period for repairs or used instrumentation purchased from Lafayette Instrument is 90 days.
All electrical and electronic equipment manufactured by Lafayette Instrument Europe will have this symbol included on their ID / Rating plates. Any imported EEE sold into Europe and the UK must also be labelled with this symbol. In the first instance the supplier of the EEE should be asked to put this symbol on any EEE supplied to Lafayette Instrument Europe, if this is not possible Lafayette Instrument Europe should put this symbol on any EEE before it leave the factory.
Disposing of WEEE
Customers should be made aware of our WEEE compliance statement which can be found on the Website.
If a customer contacts Lafayette Instrument Europe wishing to return WEEE for disposal, they should be referred to the information on the website and given a decontamination note and returns note. The decontamination note should be filled out the same as any return. The returns note should be included in the returned package state that the product has been returned for disposal.
WEEE will be kept on site at the factory in a designated area until there is a large enough quantity to arrange a collection by DHL Envirosolutions.
Each product that falls into this category must have a finished weight value entered in the part screen on EMAX. If a product does not have a value entered in to this field the product should be weighed before packing and the value should be entered at this stage. If a product is redesigned then it should be re-weighed and then new weight should be put into the field.
At the end of each period a report can be ran from EMAX which will detail the total weight of EEE put on to the market in the UK only during a designated period, this information should then be passed on to DHL Envirosolutions at their request.
DHL Envirosolutions should also be advised of the companies full annual turnover each year.
Copies of all data and practices regarding WEEE are kept in a file in the production office.
